Where did the idea come from?
O was initiated by Thierry Mortier, a Swedish-Belgian artist and semiotician who works on Arte Útil projects — as defined by Tania Brugueras.*
Thierry found inspiration for O in the ”blanco partij” in the most recent Belgian election, and adapted it from Belgium’s mandatory voting system to Sweden’s voluntary system to figure out how to put pressure on the Swedish system from day one.**
